Embracing the yoga twist.


As I step onto my yoga mat, I feel a sense of anticipation building within me. Today, like many days before, I find myself drawn to the gentle yet powerful movement of twisting in yoga. It's a journey I've embarked on countless times, each twist revealing new insights and experiences. In this personal reflection, I invite you to join me as I explore the significance of twisting in yoga from my own perspective.

My journey with twisting in yoga began as a quest for physical relief and inner calm. After long days spent signwriting & sitting at a computer, my body yearned for release from tension and stiffness. It was during a particularly challenging yoga class that I first encountered the transformative power of twisting poses. As I surrendered into the gentle rotation of my spine, I felt a wave of release wash over me, melting away the knots of stress and fatigue that had accumulated within.

Through my practice, I've come to appreciate the innate wisdom of the body and its ability to communicate with me through sensation. Each twist offers a unique dialogue between mind and body, guiding me deeper into the present moment. As I explore the edges of my flexibility and strength, I learn to listen to the subtle cues and signals that arise, honoring the body's limits while also gently pushing beyond them.

Twisting in yoga is not just about physical movement; it's also a journey of self-discovery and introspection. As I navigate the twists and turns of my practice, I find myself confronting aspects of myself that may have been hidden or overlooked. With each twist, I peel back the layers of tension and resistance, revealing a deeper sense of inner resilience and resilience.

Central to my experience of twisting in yoga is the rhythm of the breath. With each inhale, I invite spaciousness and expansion into my body, creating room for the twist to unfold. As I exhale, I surrender into the depth of the pose, allowing tension to melt away with each breath. It's a dance of inhalation and exhalation, a symphony of breath and movement that anchors me in the present moment and connects me to the pulse of life itself.

In the dance of twisting in yoga, I find a sanctuary for exploration, healing, and growth. It's a practice that invites me to embrace the fullness of my being – body, mind, and soul – and to journey inward with curiosity and compassion. Through twisting, I discover not only the power of physical release but also the profound wisdom that resides within each breath and movement. And so, with each twist, I continue to explore the depths of my practice, trusting in the transformative journey that unfolds with each turn of the spine.
